🎵 “The city lights are so beautiful in Yokohama—Blue light Yokohama!” 🎵
This time, I explored Noge, just a short walk from Yokohama’s Sakuragicho Station!
Hello, I’m Kazu, your guide for our Yokocho Tours.
Exciting news! From January 18 (Saturday) to February 2 (Sunday), Snack Yokocho will have a booth at the “Nabe Koya” event held in front of the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

To prepare, we’ll have different “mama” (hostesses) managing the booth each day, and for this, I headed to Noge to gather support from local snack bar owners.

What Makes Noge Special?
Noge is a legendary drinking district in Yokohama. Its maze-like alleys, retro neon signs, and welcoming locals make it a memorable destination for an unforgettable night out.
From casual standing bars to stylish wine bars and traditional izakayas, Noge offers a variety of drinking spots for everyone.
First Stop: Kokko-do
Located at the edge of the Miyakobashi Shopping Street, Kokko-do is a bustling spot frequented by regulars.
Here’s the unique payment system: you pre-load cash into a case in front of you, and the staff deducts the amount as you order.
The specialty? Yakitori skewers! At just ¥200 each, you can order by writing your name and the number of skewers you’d like on a slip of paper.
While you wait, you’ll naturally strike up conversations with other patrons and get recommendations for other great spots to visit in the area.
Second Stop: Snack Date
Next up was Snack Date, a chic establishment that opened last year. The mama here previously ran a place called Noge Base.
Unlike the nostalgic atmosphere of typical Noge spots, Snack Date feels modern and stylish. The interior boasts a disco ball and a stage, creating a vibrant atmosphere where guests can sing their hearts out.
The star of the show is Yuko Mama, who has a beautiful voice and harmonizes effortlessly with guests, making everyone feel like a superstar on stage.
Third Stop: Gaikotsu BAR ROCK Shiawase
My final stop was the quirky Gaikotsu BAR ROCK Shiawase (Skeleton Bar ROCK Happiness).
The skull-themed exterior intrigued me, and inside, it didn’t disappoint—skulls everywhere! The owner recommended the coffee shochu, made with Awamori (Zanpa), which turned out to be unexpectedly delicious.
The bar plays footage of motorcycles racing, a nod to the owner’s hobby. If you’re curious, this place is a must-see for its unique vibe.
Why You Should Experience Noge
Noge isn’t just a place to drink; it’s where you can immerse yourself in local culture and genuine hospitality. Wander through the alleys, step into a bar that catches your eye, and let the night unfold.
This is where you’ll find unforgettable conversations, warm interactions, and a vibrant energy that defines Noge’s nightlife.
