Enchanted by the nightlife of Asakusa – Deep time spent at a snack bar ~A Rookie snack bar mama-san, Nana Vol.22~

The two sides of Asakusa are so different during the day and at night! When you think of Asakusa, you think of Kaminarimon, Nakamise-dori, and Sensoji Temple. During the day, it is bustling with tourists and school trip students, and is full of people enjoying eating their way around. However, when the sun goes down, the atmosphere of Asakusa changes completely.

As the number of tourists decreases and the slightly suspicious neon lights come on, an adult world unfolds. Regulars gather in the Showa-era retro drinking district, and the sound of glasses clinking echoes through the air. The charm of Asakusa at night is that it makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
If you want to enjoy such a deep night, you should definitely go to a snack bar! This time, we’ll introduce some great places that we happened to stop by ♪

Snack Aloha – Relax with homemade food and a warm atmosphere 💓

The first place we visited was “Snack Aloha.” Although the name has “Aloha” in it, it has a nostalgic, relaxed atmosphere. It is a homey snack bar where the owner and the bartender will welcome you.

Although it was my first time there, I was warmly greeted with a “Come on in!” and immediately relaxed. The restaurant serves home-cooked meals, all of which have a comforting taste. It was a space where I could enjoy watching the show while drinking and singing karaoke.

Then, when I looked up, I found a “cabasa”! Yes, it’s the instrument that was in the music room at that school. Doesn’t it bring back memories?! I shook it along to the music and the fun time flew by (lol). Snack Airoha was the kind of snack bar that made me think “I want to come back again!”!!

Snack Rouge – A long-established restaurant with an eye-catching red sign and a Showa-era atmosphere.

The next place we visited was “Snack Rouge” located at the back of Nakaten Street. Its eye-catching red sign is a long-established snack bar that is known only to those in the know. It has been in business for over 30 years and is run by the owner and part-time staff.

It’s a little nerve-wracking to go into a restaurant for the first time, isn’t it? But even if you’re a first-time customer, it’s okay!
At first, the owner looked a little scary, but when we started talking, he was very kind and we quickly became friends.

The bar is small and cozy, so it’s easy to have a lively conversation with the customers next to you. As I drank more, I started to have too much fun… and before I knew it, I was pretty drunk (lol).
My memory is a little hazy, but I do remember that the prices were reasonable and easy on the wallet! It was a nice Asakusa-style snack bar with a Showa-era atmosphere.

A night in Asakusa is complete with snacks!

Unlike the bustling daytime atmosphere, Asakusa at night has a nostalgic, warm atmosphere. When you open the door to a bar, you’ll find a fun time with the bar owner, the bar owner, and any customers who happen to be there.

A night in Asakusa is not complete without popping into a snack bar. If you muster up the courage to open the door, new encounters and wonderful times may be waiting for you. Be sure to try out the deep nightlife of Asakusa!
