What is Draft Beer?
Draft beer, generally referred to as beer served directly from a tank or keg, is presented in its fresh, unprocessed state. This type of beer, characterized by being consumed within a relatively short period, remains in its raw form after yeast fermentation, but before maturation and carbonation. Such draft beer offers a higher level of freshness, allowing for a clearer, more refreshing taste. On the other hand, beer sold in cans or bottles has undergone maturation and carbonation, extending its shelf life but lacking the same freshness and creamy foam as draft beer. Draft beer is commonly served fresh from the tap at breweries and izakayas, hence the term “draft.”
What is different between Japanese draft beer and other beers?
The concept of draft beer exists overseas, but it is not typically offered in the same manner as Japanese draft beer. In Japan, draft beer is usually served directly from tanks or kegs, providing a fresh and unprocessed experience. Overseas, however, each country or region has its own unique beer culture. While some places do serve draft beer in beer halls or pubs, it is not as widespread as in Japan. Instead, bottled or canned beer is more common, with the beer undergoing maturation and carbonation before being sold. Consequently, the freshness and creamy foam of Japanese draft beer are less commonly enjoyed overseas.

Want to enjoy draft beer at home? No worries! Asahi makes your dream come ture!
The Asahi Super Dry Nama Jockey Can creates a rich foam as if it were poured from a draft beer mug when opened. Its unique design allows you to enjoy the burst of foam the moment the beer is poured. This foam symbolizes the beer’s freshness and quality. Opening a Nama Jockey Can provides a sensation akin to enjoying draft beer at an outdoor beer garden, offering beer enthusiasts a special experience.
