Discover Japan's Nightlife: Welcome to Snack Bars!

【Akarin】A Big Adventure in Snack Bars

Let’s get into Japan’s Deep World Snack Bars vol.1

Hello there! I’m Akari, the behind-the-scenes wizard who crafts the website for Snack Alley.

I’m a travel-obsessed woman in her thirties, and guess what? I’ve just snagged my very first series! 🎉 And it’s all about snack bars! (Yes, you heard that right!)

You might think everyone at Snack Alley is a snack bar aficionado, but let me clear that up—I’m actually a snack bar newbie! I used to think snack bars were for super sociable folks, and the idea of karaoke in front of strangers made me a bit nervous… (My bad 🙇) At home, I’m more of a “salted squid and shochu” type—basically a relaxed, laid-back gal who enjoys chilling in her natural state.

Since joining Snack Alley, I’ve been busy creating banners, designing, and handling the website. Despite leading a life far removed from snack bars (though I do snack on goodies every day!), I’m finally taking the plunge into the world of snack bars. I’m stepping onto this new path very slowly but surely.

I’m not a fan of big parties and prefer enjoying good food and drinks with close friends, so when Snack Alley’s own Igarashi-san suggested I try out a snack bar, I initially saw it more as a job duty than a personal adventure. I thought, “Why not give it a go and see if it’s my thing?” and thus, I embarked on my snack bar debut in Shizuoka Prefecture.

What was my first snack bar experience like? What did I feel? Stay tuned for the next installment to find out!

I’m excited to share the true snack bar experience with all of you who haven’t been to one yet. I’ll be tackling this adventure with a touch of chaos and a lot of enthusiasm, so don’t miss it!
