What is ” EXPO OPEN STREET”?
“EXPO OPEN STREET” is an event to build momentum for the Kansai-Osaka Expo, organized by Osaka Umeda Area Management , and will be held on the sidewalk space on the south side of JR Osaka Station from 13:00 to 22:00 on Sunday, October 13th, 2024. Produced by demo!expo, the event will be held at the entrance to the south side of JR Osaka Station six months before the Expo opens, with the aim of strengthening unity in the local community while building anticipation for the Expo.
Based on the concept of “The initiative to open up the city begins at the newly opened gateway” the ground and building walls that are usually unassuming will be transformed into a one-day stage and art space, providing visitors with a special experience. Many good points of Osaka city and culture will be communicated to domestic and international audiences through the creation of a space where people, entertainment, and music can be enjoyed, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to symbolize preparations for the Kansai-Osaka Expo, which is approaching in six months, and expectations for the future. In addition, this event will be a great way to liven up the opening of the Expo, with decorations with Expo-themed colored tape, workshops for children, and a stage featuring Osaka’s official mascot “Myakumyaku” and local artists.
[Date and time] Sunday, October 13, 2024 13:00-22:00 (scheduled)
[Location] South side walk in front of JR Osaka Station

What does Snack Yokocho do?
We have been given the opportunity to take part in this event which represents Osaka Prefecture, so what exactly will Snack Yokocho be doing?
We will be setting up a “Snack Bar Experience Booth” in the venue set up in front of the station square, where you can enjoy communicating with the snack bar mama-san! In addition, we will also be holding an “Osaka Snack Night Tour” (limited for first 5 people) where you can enjoy the nightlife of Osaka and experience two snack bars with a foreign language-speaking tour guide. In an open square under the blue night sky, whether you are a snack bar beginner, a foreign visitor to Japan, or someone who already has a favorite snack bar, you can enjoy communicating with the snack bar mama-san as a hub, and enjoy an atmosphere of unity!
You can either sit at the bar and drink with the mama-san (however, if it gets crowded, there is a time limit), or join the “Osaka Snack Night Tour” and enjoy some actual snacks. Let’s have a great night!
[How to participate]
Snack Experience Booth: Purchase a “Snack Set for 1,000 yen (tax included)” at the Snack Yokocho Shop located in “Departure Square(旅立ちの広場)” inside Osaka Station and show the Snack Textbook included in the set to the staff. (*There is a time limit when it is crowded)

Introducing the moms
Four mamas from three stores will be participating this time!
1. Snack Umi: Umi Mama 2. Kbar: Yui-san and Hiro-chan 3. Gekkoutei: Harumi Mama. They are all nice and talented like mamas who are popular on social media, mamas who are good at fortune telling, and mamas who love to chat. Whether you’re looking for a new place to hang out or want to learn about local Osaka information, come and enjoy snack time with the mamas in the friendly atmosphere that only a snack bar can offer. *Time restrictions may apply when the bar is crowded.
A wide variety of moms with different characters are here!
Please come and experience our open space snack bar!
When you hear the word “snack bar,” you may think of it as a closed place that is difficult to enter and to open the door. We are trying to dispel that image and make it more casual, and if the door is difficult to open, sometimes we will remove the door and roof and support your first steps in an open place♪ We believe that you can enjoy your first snack bar experience with peace of mind because we have snack bar-loving members of Yokocho, including Snajo®︎ Igarashi, who has opened the doors of many snack bars.
See you in Osaka!!
